About Us
Established in 1998 by brothers Matthew and Martin Griswold,
Judge's Farm is a wholesale grower of premium perennials. Our goal is to provide our customers with hearty, landscape
ready plants that will flourish in every garden. With attention focused solely on perennials, we are dedicated
to the quality and consistency of our plant material and challenge anyone to find healthier, more vigorous perennials
on the wholesale market. We maintain these high standards throughout the nursery, and are confident you will notice
the results.
Together we oversee all aspects of the nursery, from ordering the plugs and bare root to delivering plants for
our customers. We are involved in each and every step of production. You can usually find one of us mixing the
potting soil, loading orders, repairing irrigation lines, planting behind the soil wagon, or behind the wheel of
the delivery truck. It is refreshing to see the owners of the business step down from a truck at your garden center
and unload the best perennial available to you. We take pride in our commitment to perennials and our customers,

Upon receiving a BA in British History from Bowdoin College
in 1989, Matt moved down the coast to Portland, Maine and opened Granny Killam's, an outpost for live music and
assorted beverages. After serving a few drinks, Matt put his creative talents to work and opened a freelance graphic
design business with a college classmate. Taking his new marketing skills and desire for greener pastures, Matt
and his new wife, Michele, moved to Worcester, Massachusetts for a couple of years. Eventually the two ended up
in Old Lyme, Connecticut where they live with their boys Max and Eli. Though his background is diverse, Matt has
established a reputable niche as a perennial grower and business owner. His knowledge of perennial production has
grown faster than the nursery, and he is always seeking out new and exciting plants for our customers. His dedication
to the farm and the industry is unquestionable.
Martin spent five great years at the University of Vermont,
and graduated in 1995 with a degree in Small Business Management and Environmental Studies. The opportunity to
travel after college lured him from Burlington for six months, followed by a move to Boston. A year with an executive
education firm in Cambridge provided great experiences, but was also the catalyst for returning home to Old Lyme
in 1996 to pursue new business ventures. While working for a local landscape company, Martin and Matt founded Judge's
Farm in their father's barnyard.
With knowledge gained from school, Martin began with the
business operations and management aspects of Judge's Farm. From
keeping the books to managing inventory, his time is spent
ensuring the farm runs as smoothly as possible.
Martin and his wife Sondra
live near the farm with their two boys, John and Henry, and
their two golden retrievers Wilder and Baker.
Together, Matt and Martin have created Judge's Farm, a unique perennial nursery that will exceed all of your expectations.
Along with the help of their father, "Big Matt", the three strive to deliver the best plants possible
to their customers.

At Judge's Farm, we offer a wide variety of perennials that
will meet everyone's needs. We grow more than 400 varieties of plants, and we always encourage our customers' suggestions
to expand our inventory. Our perennials are available in one and two gallon containers, as well as some quarts
for the spring and three gallon grasses and perennials for summer. By "fall planting" the majority of
our material, we ensure big plants for the following spring that will bloom vigorously. We use a slow release,
8-9 month fertilizer incorporated in our potting soil for continued feeding throughout the growing season. Please

We would welcome anyone in the market for wholesale perennials
to stop by the nursery for a visit. We are located three miles south of I-95, two hours from Boston & New York,
and forty minutes from Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut.
From New Haven and points West:
I-95 North to exit 70. Take right off ramp onto Route 156 East
for 2.8 miles. After you cross a small river, take first right
onto Old Shore Rd. Second right is the entrance to the farm
through a large deer fence. Office is 200 yards on right.
From Hartford and Points North:
Travel on I-91 South to Route 9 South. Route 9 merges into I-95
North. Get off at exit 70. Take right off the ramp onto Route
156 East for 2.8 miles. After you cross a small river, take
first right onto Old Shore Rd. Second right is the entrance to
the farm through a large deer fence. Office is 200 yards on
right.
From all Points East:
I-95 South to exit 70. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight through the traffic light and proceed to your third
light. Make a left onto Route 156 East. Continue 2.9 miles and make a right onto Old Shore Road.
Second right is the entrance to the farm through a large deer
fence. Office is 200 yards on right.
